French artist responsible for perhaps the most recognizable street art stunt of the last decade. For the past twelve years, he has conducted worldwide "invasions" with custom site-specific mosaic pieces based on the 1978 video game "Space Invaders”. He started with the invasion of Paris - and then 35 other cities in the world have become components in his public art planetary invasion, appearing everywhere from on the 'Hollywood' letters to Jacques Chirac's lapel.
Invader’s new gallery pieces are made up from hundreds of original Rubik's cubes. Ranging from interpretations of iconic images (the Mona Lisa, Alex from A Clockwork Orange) to the abstract (representations of fragmented and de-fragmented hard drives), the Rubik's pieces are as instantly recognizable as Space's Invaders, and on their way to becoming just as internationally recognized. Invader has had solo exhibitions at art galleries in Paris, Osaka, Melbourne, Los Angeles, New York City, and London.
